A little more progress on getting stuff into the Travelog. Now up through Monday, October 5th. There have been too many things to do... Which is good. I have been making daily updates to my Facebook page because it is easier to do. I will start updating these pages, but for the very latest, please see my Facebook pages: http://www.facebook.com/forsdick. Tomorrow we are leaving for Sweden for 10 days.

Introduction

Last March Marsha asked me what I thought of her becoming Chair of the Lexington Town Meeting Member's Association. It would mean that for two years we needed to be in Lexington in February, March and April -- possibly even May. From the comfort of Florida, not quite remembering what it was like in Lexington during those months, and eager to see her do something that she loved, I gave an enthusiastic Yes, Do It!

It was only when we got back in April, to a three month period of cold, rain, and generally lousy New England weather that I started to second guess myself...

But then, saving the day, comes an offer from our friend David Nelson to join him and Pat in Copenhagen in October when he will be on sabbatical for the fall semester. What a nice, generous offer to spend time in a wonderful city! Needless to say, we took him up on his offer.

Of course, with the Recession in its full fury, we had some thoughts about how to reduce our expenses as much as possible, and this offer, coupled with cashing in accumulated frequent flyer miles, we are going to be able to spend 3 weeks in Denmark and Sweden -- both expensive countries -- at a very affordable price.

Did I say Sweden? Yes, after about two weeks with David and Pat, we are going north to Sweden to visit the Silvén family with whom I lived with for the summer in 1964 when I was in high school. We have kept up with Eva, but I have not seen the Eva's mother Margot, sister Lotta and brother Johan in 35 years. This is going to be very exciting. One of the things we are going to do is to go see Carl Larsson's home. At the end of our trip we are going to spend 3 days in Stockholm.

We are very excited to be going (in about an hour)!
