Sunday, October 11
A little more progress on getting stuff into the Travelog. Now up through Monday, October 5th. There have been too many things to do... Which is good. I have been making daily updates to my Facebook page because it is easier to do. I will start updating these pages, but for the very latest, please see my Facebook pages: http://www.facebook.com/forsdick. Tomorrow we are leaving for Sweden for 10 days.

Copenhagen -> Ærø

Today is the day that the International Olympic Committee is going to choose the city to host the 2012 Summer Olympics. Cities in the final 4 are Rio, Tokyo, Madrid, and Chicago. In an attempt to be like other nations, and not think we're the USA and ought to just win, President Obama showed up in Copenhagen to support the case for the United States -- just had Tony Blair supported London's winning bid for the 2012 Olympics, and Putin for Moscow's failed bid in the past. But not only this Obama show up, but also Michelle Obama and Oprah.

Well, this many important people essentially shut the city down and as a result, we decided to leave on the 10:55 train which after changing to a bus and ferry gets us to the island of Ærø and the town of Ærøeskoebing, the center of Ærø. The weather report was dismal for Saturday, so when we arrived at about 3pm in Ærøeskoebing we immediately went out to see what we could while it was still sunny. This proved to be a good idea...

That night we ate a wonderful dinner at Mumm. There were two different soups and I ordered the fish stew which was delicious. Usually it is the fish that is what you remember in such a stew, but in this case it was the broth that stood out. I also got to have half a bowl of the vegitable soup that Pat couldn't finish, and it was equally wonderful.
