Conclusion

Sunday, October 11
A little more progress on getting stuff into the Travelog. Now up through Monday, October 5th. There have been too many things to do... Which is good. I have been making daily updates to my Facebook page because it is easier to do. I will start updating these pages, but for the very latest, please see my Facebook pages: http://www.facebook.com/forsdick. Tomorrow we are leaving for Sweden for 10 days.

Sunday, October 1 ->?

Copenhagen

After a nice ride from the airport on the wrong train (we mistakenly took the nice commuter train rather than the more crowded Metro, but also very nice subway) we arrived at the Nelson's about about 8:30. Pretty uneventful and quite fast.

Big mistake about to happen: In my jet-lagged stupor, I plugged my CPAP unit into the 220 volt outlet without moving the voltage switch from 110 to 220. That goodness for fuses, standardization of fuses, and the Internet on which Pat found a radio & TV sales and repair shop less than a mile from our apartment. The guy there was very nice (as has been everyone here) and sold me four fuses so that I have some spares. Of course this isn't the first time this calamity with the CPAP has happened to me. See Sleep Troubles from our trip to Italy in 2006... Someday I'll learn.

While I was dealing with all of this, Marsha and Pat went out for a walk and came back with these pictures.

 David's Apartment at 18 Nyhavn, First row of windows
 First stop for Marsha and Pat: the Little Mermaid. Now that's over with...
 Pat getting out of the bicyclist's way. Rule #1 if you don't want to get hit: Pay attention to the bicyclists
 Although the people tend to dress in black and white, the buildings have great fall colors.
 No, he is not using a cell phone. Marsha just caught his arm in that position.
 Nice chair for $135 -- Oh wait a minute, that's $135 for a miniature model of a chair
 Pretty ugly icon for a Pub named "The Fish"
 I guess this is what they eat in den Fisken
 There is a good reason why bikes are all over the place: There is a very high tax on owning a car in Copenhagen. Something like 150% of the purchase price. Net effect is that bikes and public transport are used almost exclusively. Gives Copenhagen an almost car empty feeling but a people full place.
 Little girls are always cute, no matter where Marsha finds them

In any case, after I got the fuse replaced, I slept like a baby. Perhaps this is just the travel gods letting me know to be humble. We stayed at home and had a nice dinner with Pat and David.
